It is the new model with which Nissan seeks to establish itself in a very lucrative segment in the so-called emerging markets, that of compact SUVs with 3.99 meters long. And it has already arrived in Latin America in 2022. Nissan Magnite is based on the CMF-A+ platform, the same platform used by the Renault KWID. Aesthetically, it has a front end with an aggressive appearance and from some angles may give the impression of being a larger vehicle. Dimensions may vary in some regions.

Mechanical details

The mechanical offer for the Latin American market includes two engines, both based on a 1.0-litre three-cylinder block. Starting with a naturally aspirated engine with 72 hp and 70 lb-ft of torque, paired to a five-speed manual gearbox. The second uses a turbocharger that boosts power to 95 hp.

The more powerful variant can be mated to a five-speed manual or CVT automatic gearbox, with torque of 118 lb-ft and 112 lb-ft respectively. In all cases, drive is always sent to the front axle. In terms of fuel consumption, Nissan certified up to 20 km/l in the turbocharged variant.

Equipment

Safety equipment is fairly tight and can only carry a maximum of two airbags. ABS brakes with EBD are standard and better equipped variants add stability control, hill assist and ISOFIX anchorages.

Depending on the equipment level, the Nissan Magnite can be fitted with an 8-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via USB, JBL speakers, digital instrument cluster, wireless mobile phone charger, LED lights and 360° monitor.
